Plotting vs Narration
This week I attended an online workshop hosted by DancingWord. net and Randy Ingermason taught us how to get into publishing fast. He referred to his article "Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Author!(click the title to skip to the article.)"
During the workshop he began speaking to me and we both agreed I was a sophomore and I needed to jump to Junior fast by working on my plotting(my weakest point) and character development(according to John Sanford at storySouth, I excel in this category)
And so I have. I picked up a book he recommended to me and began working on plotting my novel. I also have used some of Ingermason's techiques on building scenes, particularly Swain's MRU's.
Needless to say I was on my way until I read a paragraph in 20 Master Plots about Plotting vs. Narration until I began reading Out of the Deep I Cry and Gilead. My novel was narration--things happened, but I didn't have a true plot. A true conflict.
Thank the good Lord now I do. Angel needs to clear her name or lose her life or even worse, lose her daughter or even more worse surrender her faith when what she values most dangles over the bridge and she's too far away to catch it. Okay...
Writing to see what the end's gon' be,

Randy Ingermason has a terrific technique for outlining that I am attempting to employ with my synopses - the snowflake method. I'm sure he explained it. It's there on his site. Must admit, I read it and thought - Gosh, that makes sense!
duh.
keep on writing, Dee.
It sounds like you've got your tag line for your mss also with that brief description you gave.
