Novel Writing Mistake #1: Do Not Backtrack

I have been writing this novel at least four hours a day and my wordcount as dropped to 7500. My goal for this month is 22500. I have a long way to go. But what bothers me at this point is that I spent at least two good weeks rewriting--something i shouldn't do until the second draft. Yet, I believed I needed to clean the first few chapters up and now I'm disappointed with myself, because when i look at my daily wordcount since I began this novel. I wrote 22500 words weeks ago. Actually I should be halfway through the novel. Time is running out. I want to submit to an agent this fall. What can I do to make this up? I can't drink caffeine or eat caffeine. I must have at least eight hours sleep. Pray. That's what I'll do. Will you pray with me?

Please, Lord, help me stay the course and keep my focus on the finish line. Amen.

Writing to see what the end's gon' be,
Dee

And let me just say, Angel's twin sister, Ava is the real culprit for my backtracking, old snooty patootie bourgeis princess. :)
